The University of Wisconsin Office of Continuing Professional Development in Medicine and Public Health is pleased to offer five new self-paced e-learning modules on nutrition evaluation and management topics. http://www.cme.wisc.edu/distance/nutr/web/

Each of the five topics focuses on one of the following common chronic diseases: 

• Hypertension
• Diabetes
• Lipid Disorders
• Obesity
• Metabolic Syndrome

These materials are designed to help practitioners implement evidence based nutrition guidelines in a clinical practice setting. Each topic includes a PowerPoint presentation with audio, a case study, and a quiz. Access to the modules is free. CME and CE credits can also be earned for a small fee upon successful completion of each module.

The e-learning topics follow the format of the 5 A's for behavioral counseling by primary care clinicians recommended by the US Preventive Services Task Force: assess, advise, agree, assist, and arrange. Techniques and tools to implement each of these steps are discussed and numerous on-line resources are provided. The case study format offers an opportunity to apply the recommended principles and practices.
