Kelly Nuckolls earned BS and MS degrees in Family & Consumer Sciences/Dietetics from Eastern Illinois University.  She then completed a clinical focused, 9-month internship program at Cox College located in Springfield, Missouri.   Kelly is a Clinical Nutritionist at the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin where she provides patient care for a variety of specialty areas.  Her true passion is working with cancer patients and cancer survivors.  She has been enjoying writing nutrition articles for the Our UW Health e-newsletters and presenting nutrition segments on NBC 15 Madison.  In addition to her career at the hospital, she is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Missouri Western State University where she instructs an online clinical nutrition course.  Kelly loves working with the students and having the opportunity to spread her passion for nutrition!  At this present time, she is looking forward to gaining many more experiences with different types of media while serving as the WDA Media Spokesperson!  Please, feel free to contact Kelly with questions or comments regarding media.

Media Spokesperson Goals

  • Partner with the media to promote and maintain awareness of the Wisconsin Dietetic Association and the profession of dietetics.
  • Enhance the public’s knowledge of food, nutrition, and health.
  • Encourage nutrition professionals to become involved with the media.  Will assist members in reaching the media and brainstorming creative topic ideas. 
  • Maintain an updated media contact list and network of credible nutrition experts interested in working with the media.

A great tool for reaching the public is through media. There are numerous media opportunities throughout the state of Wisconsin. Dietetic professionals are highly encouraged to become involved with the media to continue working towards our mission. Click on the following link for a listing of media in Wisconsin. National Nutrition Month
The 2012 National Nutrition Month theme is "Get Your Plate in Shape." National Nutrition Month is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. Media materials will be available early 2012. WDA is excited to learn about your creative ideas for National Nutrition Month? Please, email a short description of your plan and name of your facility.

Registered Dietitian Day
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics announces the fifth annual Registered Dietitian Day on March 14, 2012. Registered dietitians are committed to improving the health of their patients and community. Registered Dietitian Day commemorates the dedication of Registered Dietitians as advocates for advancing the nutritional status of Americans and people around the world. For newsletters and flyers promoting the expertise of Registered Dietitians, as well as other ideas visit the American Dietetic Association's website.
