Second Century Town Hall at FNCE (Boston 2016)

Share |

If you are one of the fortunate nutrition professionals heading to Boston this week for FNCE, a walk on the Freedom Trail and a tasty Italian bite somewhere in North End, try your best to also get to the Second Century Town Hall. All FNCE attendees are invited.

WHEN: Sunday, October 16, 2016

WHERE: The Boston Convention and Expo Center, Room 153 ABC

WHY: To learn more about the Second Century initiatives, weigh in on a draft of the proposed new vision, and hear outcomes from the Nutrition Impact Summit, including examples of some of the draft innovation projects, directly from Summit participants.

Attendees can join one of two identical, panel-style sessions:

  • 11:45 a.m. – 12:25 p.m.

  • 12:35 – 1:15 p.m.

Please help us spread the word to members! TEXT your FNCE-attending colleagues:

“See you SUN 10/16 (11:45a or 12:35p) @ Boston Conv & Expo Rm153 ABC [SecondCenturyTownHall]”

If, like me, you get to hold down the fort at home while your friends go to Boston, have your own North End event:

  • Pour yourself a nice glass of Nero d’Avola from Sicilia or Tuscan Montepulciano d’Abruzzo . Take your glass with you to your favorite indoor easy chair, or to patio.

  • Review some fun history. Read “History Snapshot: Dietetics Student Experience in the 1940s”(Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, October 2014). Look at how student dietitians learned formula preparation at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Harriet Lane Home for Children. So retro!

  • Dream a little. What were the game-changing innovations of pioneering dietetic professionals in the first 100 years of our profession? What do you suspect might be our next game changers? How do you see yourself being part of the innovations?

Feel free to drop me a line with your thoughts (SUBJECT: Second Century game changers).

Kind Regards,
