The Academy's Second Century Initiative
Wednesday, August 31, 2016
Have you heard of Second Century? Well, that’s where we are headed as members of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Please come along, and bring your ideas and energy! Over the next months, you will hear more about this exciting and important process. The Academy plans to “accelerate progress toward good health and well-being for all people, and each individual member is an integral part of the process in creating this new vision.” As WAND members, let’s be sure to participate since the vision that we are creating will shape our careers, the work of future dietitians, and more importantly, the health of all.
As the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics looks forward to our 100th anniversary in 2017, we also look forward to charting a new vision for the future. This new vision will concentrate on 13 collaboration opportunity areas that have already been identified under these broader headings: Food and Nutrition Security; Environment, Behavior and Choice; Prevention and Health Care; Research and Standards; Global Workforce Capacity; and Investment.
Today, we want to remind you of the Academy’s invitation for all of us members to do two things by September 2nd. First, watch a brief webinar that provides background on the Second Century initiative and potential opportunity areas. Then, take a five-minute online survey and provide feedback. Do it now! See what is unfolding and get ready to be part of the action.
Feel free to drop me a note with your thoughts or questions on the topic. Most importantly, watch a brief webinar and take the online survey now!
